Longaberger baskets are not only functional, they are beautiful as well. Handcrafted at the company's headquarters in Newark, Ohio, no other baskets even come close to the quality and style these must-have home accessories offer. Check out these items from their basket collection...
On a personal note, there's nothing quite like them, is there? I remember attending my first show. I was in my early twenties, and with a tight budget, I really only went to keep my friend who was hosting the show happy. I was in for a surprise though. It was love at first sight! The first time I laid eyes on the room full of Longaberger baskets, I knew that I would not be able to go home without one!
I still have that first basket, and have added many more to my collection since that time. You will find mine scattered throughout my home. There is one by the television, which holds all our remotes. There is another one in my kitchen next to the stove, where I keep all my cooking utensils. I have yet another one by the back door that holds our car and house keys. I could keep going, but I'm sure you get the idea!
My home is filled with them. Although they are pretty to look at, I always put mine to good use. However, despite the fact that my Longaberger baskets work hard to keep me organized, they still look as great as the day that I first brought them home.
I have also purchased my fair share of less expensive (off-brand) baskets. However, I found that these eventually succumbed to wear and tear. They just don't hold up. Not my Longaberger baskets though! Although they are used on a daily basis, I know that I will still be using them many years from now, and plan to pass them onto my children (and grandchildren) when the time comes. They truly are heirloom-quality and worth every penny that I paid for them!
Another thing that I absolutely love about these hand woven baskets is that there are so many accessories that can be purchased for them. The plastic liners add to their functionality, and ensure that the interiors are well-protected from anything that is placed inside. The lids are beautiful, and do a great job of hiding the contents. I also love the fabric liners and bows, as well as the cute tie-ons.
It’s hard to find fault with them, although I do have one complaint – the company always seems to retire my favorites before I have a chance to buy them! However, I have found that the secondary market is a great place to pick them up after they retire.
On that note, you will see listings of baskets here on various pages of my website. However, I don’t actually sell any myself (I couldn’t part with them!). Instead, I have tracked down great places to buy both new and retired Longaberger baskets, and use this website to share my favorite finds. Enjoy!
